Coping With Anxiety & Stress During the Holidays

Holidays

We all know the feeling: the anxious anticipation leading up to a holiday, feeling like we have to make everything perfect, and then the disappointment and even dread that can set in after the holiday is over. But it doesn't have to be this way! There are plenty of things you can do to prevent holiday stress, and even enjoy the season.

Here are a few alternative ways of coping with anxiety and some stress reduction tips to help you get through the holiday season:

1. Don't try to do it all yourself.

Just because you're the host doesn't mean you have to do everything yourself. Delegate tasks to other people, or even better, ask for help! If you're feeling overwhelmed, ask a friend or family member to pitch in.

2. Simplify your holiday plans.

Don't try to pack too much into your holiday season. Choose a few key activities that you really want to do, and focus on enjoying those. Don't feel like you have to do everything, or go to every party.

3. Stick to your budget.

Money is a big source of stress for many people during the holidays. Make sure you set a budget and stick to it. Don't put yourself in debt just to buy gifts. The holidays aren't about monetary things, but about spending quality time with family and friends - and try crafting homemade gifts - those types of gifts are always more memorable and powerful.

4. Self-care time.

With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it's important to make some time for yourself. Take some time each day to do something you enjoy, even if it's just a quick walk or reading a book. You could even carve time out in your morning to join one of our meditation class. 😊

Mystic Market has a number of services that might help you relieve stress and promote self-care. We offer services that are also mindful of timing constraints -- with relaxation services as little as 11 minutes.

5. Don't sweat the small stuff.

If things don't go exactly as planned, don't stress about it. The holiday season is supposed to be enjoyable, so try to go with the flow and not let the little things ruin your holidays.💖
