There are over 100 chakras in the body, but the seven primary chakras align on a line that runs from the base of the spine to the top, or crown, of the head, and these chakras are what most people refer to when discussing the chakras.
Chakras are said to be the energy centers of the body. I'll briefly talk about the seven 'main' chakras, each located along the spine. These chakras are responsible for the body's energy flow and are believed to be connected to different aspects of our lives.
The first chakra is the Root Chakra, located at the base of the spine. This chakra is said to be connected to our feeling of safety and security. It is also responsible for our survival instincts and our sense of groundedness.
The second chakra is the Sacral Chakra, located just below the navel. This chakra is said to be connected to our emotions and our creativity. It is also responsible for our sexual energy and our ability to feel pleasure.
The third chakra is the Solar Plexus Chakra, located in the stomach area. This chakra is said to be connected to our personal power and our ability to be in control of our lives. It is also responsible for our self-esteem and our sense of purpose.
The fourth chakra is the Heart Chakra, located in the center of the chest. This chakra is said to be connected to our ability to love and to be loved. It is also responsible for our sense of compassion and our ability to forgive.
The fifth chakra is the Throat Chakra, located in the throat area. This chakra is said to be connected to our ability to communicate and to express our truth. It is also responsible for our sense of personal integrity and our ability to be authentic.
The sixth chakra is the Third Eye Chakra, located in between the eyes. This chakra is said to be connected to our ability to see clearly and to have insight. It is also responsible for our intuition and our ability to think creatively.
The seventh chakra is the Crown Chakra, located at the top of the head. This chakra is said to be connected to our ability to connect with our higher selves and to the divine. It is also responsible for our sense of spiritual connection and our ability to be open to new possibilities.
