Cleansing and Inviting

Many people were taught that white sage equals cleansing, (I am guilty of this thought process as well and have since changed my practice behind this ) but historically this is more nuanced.

White Sage

Traditionally used by several Indigenous Nations in North America (though practices vary greatly by Nation), white sage has been used in sacred ceremonies for purification, prayer, and spiritual preparation. Because of its cultural significance and concerns about overharvesting, many practitioners who aren’t part of those traditions choose other herbs instead.

Some modern practitioners describe white sage as creating a kind of “blank slate” by clearing away unwanted energy, but that interpretation isn’t universal.

I actually grown my own white sage, and have used it many times in my practice, but I have a new way of thinking on this use…as I no longer believe it’s the best choice in cleansing.

While I do have Native American roots, I still only use White Sage in very VERY important rituals and cleansings. However, I have gotten to where I even rarely use it now because I've been trying to find more herbs, etc that are native to where I live. That would most definitely be cedar or rosemary! We all have cedar allergies so I try not to buyn it (just essential oil only use) but we love rosemary! I agree, I don't think the plants themselves should be closed off for the same reasons you state.

Healing Trauma Through Magickal Practices

I began diving deeply into witchcraft as a way to support my healing journey with Generalized Anxiety and Panic Disorder—conditions I’ve lived with since being diagnosed at just six years old.

I struggled deeply with the death of a very close relative at a young age, and I didn’t yet have the tools to understand or process that kind of loss. While GAD runs genetically on my father’s side of the family, I believe this early grief is what awakened my anxiety and panic disorder.

As I grew older, walking the witchy path became a gentle, grounding way of finding my way back to myself.

But when you experience something traumatic, this trauma can live in the body, the nervous system, and the unseen layers of our energy.

It’s not just a memory—it’s a pattern of protection that once kept you safe. Magical practices don’t “erase” trauma, but they can…

The Hidden Truth About Witchcraft: Why Energy Alignment Requires More Than Good Intentions

In the modern witchcraft community, we often hear the mantra: "Set your intention and manifest it into reality." While intentions are certainly important, they represent only a fraction of what true energy work requires. The unfortunate truth that many practitioners gloss over is that intentions without aligned action are merely wishes.

The Intention vs. Reality Gap

Let's be honest: you can light a thousand candles, write affirmations on parchment, and speak your desires into the universe with unwavering conviction. But if your energy—your thoughts, beliefs, and actions—are misaligned with your goals, you will remain stagnant.

Consider the weight loss example. A practitioner might create an elaborate ritual, cast a spell, and set a powerful intention to lose fifty pounds. They might even feel the magickal energy flowing through them during the working. Yet if they continue eating processed foods, skip exercise, and harbor deep-seated beliefs that they are "meant to…
